Conference: Towards a National Qualifications Framework
9th April: The European Students’ Union is organising The Validation Conference of the ‘Towards a National Qualifications Framework’ Project, from the 21st to the 22nd of April 2008, in Lake Bled, Slovenia. The conference will be the final event of this project aimed at facilitating mutual exchange of experiences between stakeholders from different countries in setting up a National Qualifications Framework (NQF), implementing the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) by aligning their NQF to it and putting in place supporting instruments necessary to allow for the full success of the EQF.
After the adoption of the overarching European Qualifications Framework at the ministerial summit in London and the adoption of the EQF in the European Council and Parliament, countries are now developing their national qualifications frameworks. The frameworks have a high impact on all stakeholders in higher education, as it makes the education system more legible. That is why ESU’s project ‘Towards a National Qualifications Framework’ has worked with the main stakeholders in five countries to assess and contribute to the implementation of the NQF. The five countries that have been used as focus group of this initiative are: Slovenia, Ireland, Norway, Germany and Belgium. You can read more about the project on our project webpage.
