Dangerous Questions: Why Academic Freedom Matters (MOOC)

Given the recent shift of higher education to a landscape that is largely online, the global pandemic has presented countless challenges and opportunities for learning at all the levels. The  Scholars at Risk Network are asking: what practices can be put in place now to defend scholarly –including student– dialogue and debate?

We hope that students and academics may find the MOOC, “Dangerous Questions: Why Academic Freedom Matters”, a useful resource to guide these questions as we work to understand our new teaching and learning environment and imagine the future of higher education.

The MOOC was developed by Scholars at Risk and the University of Oslo, as well as in collaboration with partners on the Academic Freedom Refuge project. In the past over 2,800 participants from 126 countries have enrolled in the course.
