Petition for full adhesion of Switzerland to Erasmus+

Switzerland is no longer a programme country of Erasmus+, having limited opportunities for youth to participate in volunteering, sports, training, student or research exchanges abroad

With the adoption on the 9th of February 2014 of the popular initiative against mass immigration, the negotiations concerning the adhesion of Switzerland to the mobility program Erasmus+ have been suspended. Since then a very limited “Swiss solution” has been put in place for the period of 2018-2020. It is thus time for Switzerland to get back on the negotiation table with the EU with a full adhesion to Erasmus+ for the 2021-2027 period.

The advantages of promoting exchanges and international mobility are huge: the exchange experiences strengthen personal and intercultural capacities, which in turn help children and the youth become responsible citizens. The European mobility program Erasmus+ offers to organisations in the youth sector, to students and apprentices from Switzerland and everywhere much broader opportunities than the current Swiss mobility solution.
