‘Training the Trainers’: new insights on learning and training methods

The European Students’ Union with the support of the European Youth Foundation (EYF) of the Council of Europe, held a ‘Training the Trainers’ event between the 19th and the 22nd of August 2018, in Ghent, Belgium. This was part of the project entitled Social Inclusion Through Participation and Democracy – promoting active citizenship in the European student movement.

During these days, we had the opportunity to train the members who will now be forming the nucleus of our Pool of Trainers. The training aimed to continue enhancing the skills of those participating in engaging with their audiences and portraying their messages.

In addition to this, the trainers were also given the chance to start laying the groundwork for the three seminars that will be held in the upcoming months on democratisation, migration and mental health also as a part of the project of the EYF.

In particular, the training focused on giving new insights about different learning and training methods. Apart from this, the role of trainers was thoroughly explained, with trainers being given the opportunity to start designing their future sessions. The event was highly participative and promoted active learning, and we hope that the same outcomes will be achieved in the seminars to be delivered in the coming months.
