ESU supports the International Day for the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination

On 21st March ESU celebrated the International Day for the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination. ESU’s Vice-Chairpersons, Lea Meister and Blazhe Todorovski encouraged students to stand up against racism and discrimination on campus and beyond and to share their experiences using #everydayracism and #studentsagainstracism.

On 21st March 1960, 69 people were killed by police at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the apartheid pass laws. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the day in 1966, calling on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination.
