ESU participates in the revision of European Standards and Guidelines

BRUSSELS – The European Students’ Union (ESU) is one of seven stakeholders’ organisations in charge of drafting the initial proposal for a revised version of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (often referred to as ESG).

On 22 of February, the Steering Group of this revision process met where it reached an agreement on the context, scope, concepts, purpose and principles of the framework used to revise the actual Standards and Guidelines. Moreover, it was decided to launch an open call in March 2013 to collect inputs from interested parties that should be taken into consideration in the process. The revised version of the ESG will be issued to the Bologna Follow-Up Group, as is stated in the Bucharest Communiqué (2012). Fernando M Galán Palomares participates in the Steering Group of this revision process and Karina Ufert in the Drafting Group on behalf of ESU.

Background information

A publicly open website was created to raise awareness of this process and increase its transparency. The website is intended to facilitate the interaction between the Steering Group and other organisations, institutions and/or individuals interested in the subject.

A progress report will be prepared and presented during the next meeting of the Bologna Follow-Up Group held in Dublin, Ireland.
