ESU at the LifeLong-Learning Week 7th Edition

Chiara Patricolo, Executive Committee Member from ESU, was a speaker  in one of the opening sessions for the Lifelong-Learning (LLL) Week called “Reaffirming the right to education: what will the European Pillar of Social Rights bring?”

At the event, Chiara shared ESU’s perspective and joined the discussion about the next steps that should be implemented.

There is a general hostility for the ones who study more than expected. But often it is caused by the need of putting their effort to get resources to allow them studying, she said. For ESU, the Pillar of Social Rights should bring inclusiveness and education for all.

Also, she talked about the importance of including young people (and make them feel part of the decisions) in this process:

We want the European society which is built on social rights. But the Pillar cannot be a lost opportunity. It should help young people to believe in Europe because we are losing this hope.

Organised by the Lifelong-Learning (LLL) Platform and the European Youth Forum (EYF), the LLLWeek is a series of workshops, conferences and discussions about accessible education in all stages of life; The event took place from 20 to 24 November 2017 in Brussels.
