The University of Huelva Leads the First European Student Participation Project
The ambitious STUPS project, framed in the EU Erasmus+ Program, was presented to the Members of the Student Council and Representatives (CARUH)
In the framework of the STUPS Project (Student Participation Without Border), new project approved by Erasmus+ Program and coordinated by the University of Huelva (UHU), UHU Professor Mrs. Yolanda Pelayo held a meeting with various members of the Student Council and Representatives of the University of Huelva (CARUH) in order to present this ambitious European interuniversity project, which seeks to boost the role of students in university and social life.
This multicultural project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union with 312,489 EUR budget, becoming the largest cooperation initiative led by the University of Huelva. STUPS will be developed over 32 months and its actions aim to promote the role of students in the governance of Higher Education institutions and in student participation procedures to combat inequalities.
This international initiative is a pioneer in the inclusion of representatives of the student community in all phases and responsibilities of the project. In it, multisectorial training activities and dissemination events will be held at the European level. In addition, innovative products and services will be generated to encourage student participation —ensuring equality and inclusiveness.
Academic institutions such as the University of Évora (Portugal), the University of Applied Sciences (Austria), the European Students’ Union (Belgium) and the Andalusian Knowledge Agency-DEVA (Spain) are part of the STUPS consortium. Therefore, this balanced and complementary team includes three Higher Education institutions, a public agency for the evaluation and accreditation of university activities and the most representative student organization in Europe —with members from 39 EHEA countries.
This Erasmus+ Project was selected in 18th place among 100 KA 203 applications in 2019, referred to Strategic Associations of Higher Education.
The action lines of the project aim to increase and improve knowledge, cooperation, training and awareness of student participation processes in order to establish efficient governance and a more inclusive higher education system. Therefore, the STUPS target groups are students, student leaders and students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as seeking permanent coordination with university officials in participation, inclusion and equality fields.
