Shaping Belarusian Higher Education to match European Standards

Liva Vikmane, our Vice President represented ESU in Belarus at the international conference “Public participation in Higher Education modernisation: civil society role in the implementation of the Roadmap for the reform in Belarus”, held in Minsk between 23-24 September.

The two-day conference, focused on panel discussions such as structural reforms in higher education, social dimension and fundamental academic values. Participants addressed challenges and best practices on the implementation of Bologna Process in Eastern Partnership countries.

Liva delivered a presentation on applying fundamental values of the European Higher Education Area in Eastern Partnership countries, highlighting the main steps to be taken in order to lead Belarus’ higher education reform towards its final objectives.

The event was organised by the International Consortium EuroBelarus, the Belarusian Independent Bologna Committee, the Agency for Social and Political Expertise, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and the Belarusian National Platform, the Center for European Transformation (Belarus), together with the Office for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Belarus).
