The European Students’ Union condemns the ban on women and girls from education in Afghanistan and calls for immediate support

The European Students’ Union strongly condemns the Taliban’s unjustifiable decision to ban women and girls from education, making Afghanistan the only country in the world where women can’t access higher education nor girls can go to school after the sixth grade.

Education is a basic human right, and denying female students their rights will not only limit them from achieving their dreams and contributing to society but will also deny all of Afghanistan a future.

We stand with all the female students in their fight for education and demand the European Union and the International community to immediately take the necessary steps to protect the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan.
