Resolution BM70: Student representation in working groups for new law on higer education

ESU fully supports the Serbian Student Union (SKONUS) in their efforts to achieve student representations in all working groups responsible for drafting the new Law of Higher Education in Serbia. We strongly believe that students should be considered as partners, or even key stakeholder when discussing all issues of higher education. Therefore, it is unacceptable that the students are only included in the working group for student organising as the notion that there are issues in higher education which do not concern (or less concern) the students is seriously flawed and damaging for higher education systems. Every aspect of higher education has an impact on students because they are the ones who live this system every day.

For this reason, we ask the Ministry for Higher Education to reconsider their actions, acknowledge that students are equal partners and include students in every working group for drafting the new Law of Higher Education.
