Description

Slovenian Student Union (SSU) is a dedicated organisation encompassing all Slovenian students and aiming to meet the interests of more than 100.000 students of Slovenian faculties, academies, professional and vocational colleges as well as foreign institutions of higher education. Its history began with the 1994 Students Association Act, but it was only after the passing of the new Student Constitution in November 2002 that the idea to launch a uniform representation of students’ interests at the national level became a fully functional reality.

Mission and vision

SSU as a uniform student organisation seeks to influence in particular the situation in education and study opportunities, social status of students and the development of extracurricular and curricular activities.

SSU tries to achieve this primarily through active participation in the formulation of national policies and programmes in the field of higher education, scholarships, students’ residence and student work.

Much attention is paid to the health problems of students and employment of young graduates. In relation to Slovene Government. SSU is involved mainly through the Government Council for Student Affairs and working groups operating within its framework.
