Scholars at Risk’s Global Congress 2020 Goes Virtual

The 2020 Global Congress will bring together SAR Network members and partners around the world to explore the theme, Truth, Power & Society: The Promise of Higher Education in Challenging Times. Discussions will reflect three core roles of higher education: research and teaching leading to new insights and understanding, evidence-based contributions to public discourse and policy, and meaningful engagement with the broadest public good. How scholars, students, leaders, and the public understand these roles goes to the heart of increasing pressures on higher education around the world—from outside infringements on autonomy, violent protests, and wrongful prosecutions to imprisonment and more.

VIRTUAL CONGRESS

Given the evolving situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), a pared-down schedule of the in-person events originally scheduled to be held in Washington and Baltimore will take place on a virtual format over Zoom on Thursday, March 26th and Friday, March 27th, between 9:30 AM New York (-4 GMT) and 2:00 PM New York (-4 GMT).
