Students included in ENQA’s review panels

BRUSSELS – Students are an integral part in any quality assurance processes as the main beneficiaries of higher education. This is underlined in the pool of experts for reviews that are coordinated by ENQA (the European Association for Quality Assurance). At least one student will take part in every review panel.

Ten student members from the Quality Assurance pool of the European Students’ Union (ESU) participated this month in a two day training session organised by ENQA. The aim of the training was to increase the participants’ understanding and knowledge of the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG).

During these two days at the 8th ENQA Training of Agency Reviewers all the participants looked into the ESGs in a practical case based on the lessons learned from the previous reviews. The participants were also introduced to the ENQA’s membership and listing criteria, but the core mission of ENQA is to contribute significantly to the maintenance and enhancement of the quality of higher education in Europe and to act as a major driving force in developing quality assurance across all the Bologna signatory countries.

About ESU’s Quality Assurance pool

ESU’s Quality Assurance pool was established in 2009 with the goal of increasing students’ participation in higher education provision in Europe through quality assurance procedures. The pool is renewed once a year and has an independent Steering Committee, which launches the calls and selects applicants based on public criteria. The pool brings together students from all parts of Europe, their experience and knowledge, and it is an excellent forum to debate, share different views and learn about quality assurance.

These students contribute to ESU‘s policy making process, act as multipliers agents in their respective countries, collaborate in several projects and participate in various quality assurance reviews, such as the one introduced by ENQA.
