University of Strathclyde Students’ Association (USSA) / Provisions and Barriers to student refugee participation in Glasgow and Scotland

by University of Strathclyde Students’ Association (USSA)

Provisions and Barriers to student refugee participation in Glasgow and Scotland is an awareness raising and mapping project to research current provisions and barriers to student refugee participation in Glasgow and Scotland. The project will undertake research to answer some key questions:

  • What is the current context in Glasgow for refugees and asylum seekers?
  • What is best practice beyond Glasgow and how can this be incorporated into any new projects that the Students’ Associations takes forward?
  • What actions can support the audience to reach beyond Strathclyde Students’ Association and work with other students’ Unions and wider civil society in Glasgow?
  • Are there strategic partnerships that the Students’ Association could seek to develop that would enhance the work that we currently do and will undertake in the future as a result of this research?

As a result, USSA will develop an action plan to ensure a wide dissemination of materials (report, website, traveling exhibition) as well as encourage more interaction across the university and college sector in Scotland to improve the discourse and participation of refugees and asylum seekers on Scottish campuses.

For more information have a look at USSA’s website.
