Study Session: Manifesto on Student Mental Health

ESU is co-organising in partnership with International Youth Health Organization a Study Session entitled ‘Manifesto on Student Mental Health’ in cooperation with the European Youth Centre of Budapest.

The key aim of the activity is to prepare student representatives to improve mental health and contribute to decreasing the stigma of mental health in their communities by implementing mental health policies in their local environments (student organisations and universities) and on the national level.

To be able to fulfil this aim, the participants will need to reach key learning objectives:

  • To understand why addressing mental health is essential in a holistic approach towards healthier societies, including epidemiological data and economic impact on society
  • To understand how mental health relates to the wellbeing of the individual
  • To learn what are the most effective mental health policies (on local, national and international level)
  • To learn how to conduct an inclusive and democratic policy-drafting process
  • To learn how to draft a comprehensive policy document
  • To learn how to use policy documents to advocate for effective policies and to ensure the participants are aware of European-level documents, charters and CoE recommendations which directly reference them.
  • To provide a space where they can develop their own ideas for how to serve as multipliers in their own local realities.
