During this event a large number of States across the globe are expected to sign the Safe Schools Declaration, which pledges to adopt the “The Guidelines for Protecting Schools and Universities from Military Use during Armed Conflict”
In advance of the conference, the coalition published a study revealing that in most of conflicts around the world: “schools and universities are converted into barracks, logistics bases, operational headquarters, weapons and ammunition caches, detention and interrogation centres, firing and observation positions, and recruitment grounds.”
