ANSA is running a new campaign to protect the rights of male students in Armenia, due to a new proposal by the Ministry of Science and Education of RA that would make changes to the existing law on the ”Military Service”. This proposal was introduced on 24 January 2014.

The Ministry proposed that male students must have a frozen deposit in Armenia of 8.5 mln AMD (approximately 14 900 EUR) for the time that they will be studying abroad, if they have not been in the army.

Due to this, students will need more money for their tuition fees and accommodation in those countries where they will be accepted to study.

In this context and in line with ESU’s commitment to establish equality for all citizens, ESU supports campaigns that target reduced mobility of male students.
