Access to Education During COVID-19: Call for Action

In this time of need, Europe has to step up to protect its future. The economic and social impact of the current health crisis is beginning to be felt. Governments and EU institutions focus on immediate measures to contain the crisis, as it is obvious that short-term imperatives have a mandated priority. But managing the emergency must not mean that long-term planning should be put on hold.

One of the main priorities right now is education, knowing that the vast majority of our schools, universities and training providers are closed across the continent.

In this regard it has been initiated an open letter to the European Commission, the European Council and the member states, demanding action in terms of improving the access to education across the European Union.

In addition, the open letter refers to the quality of the e-learning/distance learning education available across Europe, to the problems faced by teachers, pupils and parents, to the threat of increasing inequality but also to the potential of common European actions.

Support this call by signing the petition on change.org.
