ESU at the Global Sustainable Development Congress!

Between 16-19th June, ESU was in Istanbul at the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC), as a member of the UN Higher Education Sustainability Initiative – Student Action Group. We had the opportunity to co-organise the panel session and workshop ‘From frameworks to practice – unlocking the potential of sustainability competencies in higher education’, together with other student-led organisations, such as oikos International, oikos consulting, SOS International and All-Africa Students’ Union. The session looked at a range of competency frameworks for embedding the Sustainable Development Goals into higher education curricula, and most importantly, engaged students, institutional leaders and wider sector stakeholders in analysing alignment between the objectives of the various frameworks, successful examples of their implementation and barriers to wider deployment. We were also able to bring the student perspective in other sessions, especially in the one on ‘Advancing AI Literacy across sectors’ organised by the UN University and in the closing panel. Looking forward to further cooperation and opportunities within the HESI-SAG!
