Description

Eesti Üliõpilaskondade Liit (EÜL) was founded in 1991 by nine student unions, three months after Estonia regained its independence. Members of EÜL are democratic student unions from higher education institutions (14 full members as of October 2021). EÜL is recognised by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research as the umbrella organisation of student unions. EÜL works closely together with the Estonian parliament, the government, different ministries, higher education institutions and other partners.

EÜL has been the official distributor of International Student Identity Card ISIC in Estonia since 1993. In September 1999, as the very first country in the world, Estonia launched the ISIC Student Maestro card, which combines the ISIC card and the international Maestro debit card. ISIC Estonia has offered virtual ISIC cards since 2020 and as of January 2021, virtual ITIC and IYTC cards are available as well.
