Description

The Students’ Parliament of the University of Montenegro (SPUM) is the main organization of students in Montenegro and is institutional representative body of students at the University of Montenegro. SPUM was founded in 2004 by the University of Montenegro. It is responsible for rights of more than 20.000 students at the University of Montenegro. Also, through specific bodies, SPUM involves students from two private universities in Montenegro in its work.

Main goals of the SPUM are: protection of rights of students in Montenegro and their representation, initiating adoption and changing regulations that deal with students’ issues, considering and implementing programs that are connected to high education, promoting international mobility, promoting engagement of students in science, culture , sports and social life etc. SPUMs’ Assemby has 26 members representing every faculty of the University in Montenegro, including those units situated outside Podgorica (Nikšic, Cetinje, Kotor, Budva, Bijelo Polje, Herceg Novi and Berane).

The SPUM was established in accordance with the Law on Higher Education of Montenegro and the Statute of the University of Montenegro. It represents more than 80% of students in Montenegro. On the state level the SPUM is a represented in the Council of Higher Education, National HE Strategy Creating Team, working groups for drafting laws etc. At the univesity level, SPUM has its representatives in the Senate of the UoM, the Executive Committee of the UoM, the Quality Assurance Committee, councils at the faculty level etc.
